Does anybody fall for this crap?

You may have seen the little animated banner ads for some skin care product that are headlined "Smarter than Botox!". You know, the ones that feature the "before" picture of what looks like a dried apple doll that, after the magic screen wipe, looks like a Miss Teen America contestant.

Does anybody believe that?

Then again, optimism causes folks to respond to 419 scams every day...

P.T. Barnum was closer to the truth than Charles Darwin, it seems.

There's a sucker born every minute, and two to take 'im.

Gawd knows I'm a label whore and all that, but I am offended to my core that our culture increasingly dictates people should feel de-valued for actually being the age they are, as though they've committed a breach of good taste by living past *gasp!* 35. It's FUBAR.

Just the same, I can't believe that news of the Nigerian inheritance scam hasn't reached to the backwood headhunters of Borneo, let alone American shut-ins. Sad.

I'm counting the wrinkles as I wait for my Thermo-Fanny Butt Lifter to arrive in the mail, with the free, be the next caller, Cap SNAFFLER (it snaffles caps!). Hopefully I'll look young enough to snag some man who can buy me enough magazines to win the Publisher's Clearning House.

Hmmm...I don't think either Tam or Skywriter are in immediate need of such devices. But besides looking nice, both have wit, intelligence, class and style.

I don't care if the commercials for skin care stuff are lies...

...as long as AXE works as advertised. ;-)

I love the "before" and "after" photos they do when they're shilling diet pills on the teevee. "Wow, not only is she 70 pounds lighter, but all her stretch marks are gone!"

roazgawk? Son of a bitchin' gun, that's just excessive.

well thanks Joseph! (blush). . but I was just being sarcastic. Last item I ordered from the mail was a EOTech HDS Holographic Diffraction Sight

Didn't come with the cap snaffler though.

Skywriter...you are welcome! I recognized the sarcasm. I do like your blog, not the least because of a lifelong interest in aviation (I worked for a couple of airlines, got out of the business a couple of years ago because I was tired of being laid off) but on the materials management end. I really enjoyed it...though trying to get an electronics card to into Quito, Ecuador at 2 am to save a kickoff flight could be an interesting challenge. I meant what I said about you an Tam, though! You are both exceptional. Credit where credit is due.
