Pronunciation protip.

BabyTrollBlog points out the difference between "cache" and "cachet".

An easy way to remember how to pronounce the first one is that, in order to help a midget on the lam from Prague, you've got to be able to cache a small Czech.

if said individual was also a soothsayer, he'd be a small medium at large.

And this from the woman with a tendency to shame me for my own little wordplays. I'm afraid you are not a principled and consistent curmudgeon.

Almost eight years ago, I penned a review of the CZ Rami for Women & Guns magazine. The title: "Can You Cache This Small Czech?"

To this day, I can't believe the editor let me get away with it.

Drives me nuts too.

Still that being said rampant idiocy the lets this shit go on spawned Dear Reader talking about the "Navy Corpse-man" in Haiti.

Not QUITE worth it, but certainly a down payment.

OWW! Like the proverbial bullet with your name on it, I never heard/saw that one coming.

For that, you're on my naughty list.

And what does spelling capisce with two errors indicate?

He tries for polish, but remains bohemian.

I... Lord forgive me; I've been pronouncing it "cashett", and never thought to question. I must atone.

[WV: "smitins". What I deserve at the hands of the phonology gods.]

I recently had the gall to correct the pronunciation of a young (VERY young, seemed to me) man in a floppy green hat. He wasn't as appreciative as he ought to have been, IMO.
Kids these days... all Direct Action and no UW leaves one unrounded - but relatively satisfied (I suspect).
In God's Country one of our rivers ('least WE call it a river) is named Cache la Poudre...

Wherefrom comes the small czech? Is he from Brno and on the lam from Prague Authorities, or is he not from Brno and from Prague and on the lam for some height-offense?

"Wherefore" means "why". The word you want is "whence".

May that be the wedge that opens the way for understanding of "tenet" vs. "tenant" and "detent" vs. "detente". The blame may rest with auto-correct functions, but surely they can be dealt with. (Eats shoots and leaves)

Knowing how to pronuncicate them fancy words is all well and good, I guess, but the important question is...what's bigger, a stockpile or a cache?
WV: subic. Never been there.

Staghounds: is that Norse for "irony impaired"? At least the South African got it.
