Brilliant comment of the morning so far...

Describing the bombing suspect still on the loose after the gunfight with the po-po, Boston police commissioner Ed Davis said "We believe this to be a terrorist."

Well, thank you Sherlock Holmes. I'm not sure I'd have been able to puzzle that one out on my own.

Really? You mean he wasn't here to sell Amway?

Ed's a smart one he is.

Boston, Cambridge, Watertown (where the stuff is really hitting the fan), Newton, Belmont and Waltham are in lockdown. I'm a little over a mile from where it's all happening in Watertown. One suspect dead, one suspect on the loose, One MIT cop dead and an MBTA cop in serious condition. All public and most private transportation in or out of the cordon is suspended.

This day will indeed be remembered as another shot heard 'round the world.

For some reason, that brings to mind:

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college.

So let's get down to cases: you are a rabbit, and I am going to eat you for supper.

Now, don't try to get away! I am more muscular, more cunning, faster, and larger than you are, and I am a genius. Why you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten."

And we all know how that one turned out.

Yeah, I caught that one on the way in to work, and about had a wreck from laughing so hard. You think he's a terrorist? You don't say!

Martial law in Boston? For one guy? What will they do if something serious happens? Now, I understand, the citizens are in more danger from the police than the bad guy but really? Also, was that a M203 that the Boston cop was carrying?

Nothing broke my heart harder than hearing my brother in law (in one of the locked-down cities) when asked what he'd do if the guy was trying to break into their home:

"We'd call the police and they'd be here in minutes and have the place surrounded".

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

It takes at least 2-3 minutes to kick a door in or shoot out a window. C'mon, they make it look a lot easier in movies to kick a door in than it really is. And then he'd spend at least a commercial break looking for us. And by then the FBI sniper team would be set up and they'd put the red laser on his chest and he'd surrender.

They only think he's a terrorist because they couldn't find any clear linkage to the Tea Party.

Thank God Massachusetts has common sense gun laws, so terrorists can't get weapons of war!!

Listening to NPR this morning, they were being very careful to point out that these guys weren't regular Muslims. They were CONSERVATIVE Muslims. You know, the bad kind.

Are my grand kids going to grow up calling each other "righty" and "Conservative" as kiddie curse words?

I had read, however reliably, that the older, dead brother went back home last year, perhaps returning radicalized. If he turned his brother on, and now older more committed brother has assumed room temp, maybe the younger found himself a hole, pulled it in after himself, and topped himself.

I am curious how they came to catch the dead one, while the other got away. Did he sacrifice himself, did one stay with a vehicle while the other got out to shoot it out with BPD? Have to wait and see.
