Fun Science Fact of the Day:

It is a little-known fact that electric space heaters can also be used as cat magnets. If you're not sure where your feline companion is, turn on a heater and within fifteen minutes every cat in the house will be sprawled in front of it like sunning iguanas.

Fifteen minutes...pshaw.

The Dachsies can hear me turning the switch on the Honeywell nuclear space heaters from clear across the house, and there'll be a stack of four dogs in front of that heater before I've taken my hand off the switch.

Dachshunds *love* space heaters.

See, that's the difference between cats and dogs. Turn on the heater, and the dogs come bolting into the room as though someone whistled them up. With cats, you turn on the heater and they drift languidly towards it, like helium balloons bobbing on air currents, until they're all aggregated into a warmth-seeking mass on the floor in front of the hot, glowing Kubrickesque monolith...

That's proof right there that cats are smarter than dogs. It takes a few minutes for a space heater to really get going. Cats know this; dogs don't.
